Santa’s festive bus delivers presents to Southend children Posted On 23 December 2020

Open-top busses bring Christmas cheer to local youngsters, hours before new restrictions are announced

Children in the Southend and Leigh areas recently received some festive cheer they won’t forget.

Bus company Ensignbus supplied some open-top Routemaster busses which were packed full of Christmas decorations and vibrant festive colour and were driven around the streets by Santa Claus, who handed out presents to the eagerly waiting children.

The special Santa-driven bus also visited the amazing Southend Mencap Showstoppers and many other children. It was also spotted in a number of roads around the area.

Director of Ensignbus, Ross Newman, said in a statement: “We met some great people during the summer via our open-top 68 service which runs between Southend and Leigh. We wanted to do something special for them and others in what has, and continues to be, a very difficult year for so many people.”

The event was held the day before new Tier 4 restrictions were implemented for the South-East, the East of England and London because of rising Covid-19 cases under a new variant of the virus, and Ensignbus thanked all the families who took part in the festive occasion.
