Events for Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust return Posted On 30 July 2021

The Essex hospitals charity welcome back fundraising events have made a welcome return

The first of these events to make a return was NHS Go Nuclear. The mud run, which consists of obstacles filled throughout a 5km stretch, was hosted by Nuclear Races at Kelvedon Hatch. A staggering amount of people partook in the event, approaching almost 90 participants, all of whom were raising funds for wards and departments at the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. Thousands upon thousands of pounds is expected to be made in sponsorship.

Director of charities and voluntary services at Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity, Lucy Thomas-Clayton, has said: “This is the first physical event we have held since December 2019, so it is genuinely great to be back. We’ve seen some amazing support and fundraising efforts during lockdown, but it is so lovely to see so many new and returning faces in person.”

Events such as Walk For Wards and Tackle The Tower have also been confirmed and will be happening later in the year, and residents are free to sign up and take part. Walk For Wards is the next event to arrive, and will be a 7km walk alongside the Southend seafront from Uncle Tom’s Cabin in Shoebury to the Chalkwell shelter, taking place on Sunday 19th September.

For those a bit more daring, a vertical walk might be right up your street – or tower? Tackle the Tower will consist of a 154 foot walk down the side of the tower block at Southend Hospital. This event takes place on Saturday 9th October.

If you or anyone else you know are interested in taking part in either of these events, please email MSE.Charity@nhs.net or call 01702 385337 for more details.
